Redesign on the way

I've learned a lot about building websites in the past few months, much of which you'll get to see here soon. Obviously, I love Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles, or Honu, so that will be the central theme. Thanks to everyone who helped me troubleshoot my coding issues. I think the end result is well worth all the effort.

For you fellow Geeks, the redesign separates the content from the design. If I just posted the HTML you'd see whatever default font you've got your browser set on, and all the content would just run straight down the page. You'll notice, however, that my redesign includes three columns, various graphics, and a specific font style. Can't wait to unveil it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed working on it.

It's been a long time, baby.

Saturday morning I went running. It wasn't far—just short of half a mile. I was inspired by my friend Jen who told me she believed in me and knew I could do it. Actually, what she said was she thought I could run a marathon.
*chuckle*

I have absolutely no desire to run a marathon, I'm not sure it's good for our bodies. I've simply starting to run again, in addition to my walking. I used to run quite a bit in high school and in the Army. Somehow I remember it being fun. Well, Saturday wasn't exactly fun, but it was inspiring, sweaty, and much less painful than I expected.

It really made me think about how many things I don't do—and why I don't do them. I'm starting to question a lot of what I do and why. Stay tuned.

Too wired to sleep

I'm not even sure what I'm excited about, but I am excited, I know that. I'm taking on the development of a couple of websites, and editing and writing some other work. It's very different than what I've been doing, and a tremendous challenge, but I'm more up for it now than I've ever been. I just need to remind myself to get enough sleep and not overdo it.

Welcome to my Geekdom

Okay, gotta thank Chiara for this official confirmation of my geekiness. Yes, I'm a geek—actually, a Major Geek. My score? 40.0394 percent. Major Geek is the fourth level of eight levels of Geekdom.

My favorite answers were:

  • I have studied a language on my own. (German, Russian, Spanish, Sign Language)

  • I have done homework that wasn't required. (And not always because I wasn't paying attention to the teacher!)

  • I have named a pet after a literary character. (I LIKE Akasha.)

  • I have named a pet after a mythological being. (Osiris has a cool ring to it.)

  • I have corrected a supervisor on spelling or grammar. (No comment.)

  • I have read Russian literature outside of class. (That's geeky?)

  • I have seen the Princess Bride more than 2 times. (As you wish...)

  • I have solved an entire 500+ piece puzzle. (500? Those are easy! Won't touch anything less than a 1000. Even frame them...*blush*)

So I tell Sophie about my score, and she's indignant. She says, "Actually, Mom, 40 percent is an F, so you're not a geek!"

When I tell her that makes me a Major Geek, she says, "But it you do a lot of cool things, you listen to rock, play the electric guitar..." (not sure if that trailing off was a loss for my other cool qualities, or if that should be enough)

Somehow I think she doesn't get that I'm happy with my geekiness. *sigh* Teenagers.

Actually so many of the answers seemed "normal" to me, I kinda felt bad for non-geeks.

If you feel like it, let me know how geeky you are!
